How long is my appointment?

Generally your initial psychiatric assessment will last 1 hour. This may be longer or shorter depending on the complexity of issues. All therapy sessions are generally 1 hour. Please arrive in enough time to complete necessary forms or paperwork, or you can download the paperwork here to complete before you arrive.

What if I am going to be late or need to cancel my appointment? What if I miss my appointment?

At Carolina Behavioral Care Inc. We understand that things come up and you may have forgotten your appointment or just couldn’t make it in for some reason. For this reason, we provide a complementary pass for 1 missed appointment no matter the cause. Following this there will be a small $35.00 fee for the first occurrence and a $50.00 fee for subsequent occurrences. Exceptions may rarely be made at the discretion of CBCI administration.

Which insurance companies do you accept?

Will I need to make a co-payment at the time of service?

This will depend on the type of insurance you have. CBCI staff will usually contact your insurance company to see if a co-payment is required. If it is this payment will be taken prior to seeing your psychiatrist or therapist. Some insurance companies want to encourage those who are seeking mental health services and will waive your co-payment.

Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?

For most insurance companies you do not need a referral, however your insurance company may require what is known a “prior authorization” before you can see a therapist or psychiatrist.

I have a question about my medication?

We encourage you call our office and speak to our staff. They can direct you to the appropriate resources.

What should I do if I have an issue after office hours?

If for any reason you are feeling unsafe and are thinking about hurting yourself or others. This is a psychiatric emergency. Do not wait for a call back from a provider; call 911 or go the nearest Emergency Room for assistance. For non-urgent issues, you may leave a message with the on-call operator or wait until the next business day for service.

Why do you need my credit card information to make an appointment?

At Carolina Behavioral Care Inc. We try to provide as many appointment slots for our patients as possible. We you call and book an appointment with one of our clinicians, we hold that spot exclusively for you. If you do not provide us with advance notice of not being able to make your appointment; it takes away valuable clinical time from other patients. Due to this there is a $35.00 charge for all missed initial appointments without exceptions.

Do I need an appointment to get my prescriptions?

This is entirely based on the discretion of your psychiatrist. At times you can get refills on non-controlled prescriptions if you have misplaced your medications. All refills for controlled prescriptions requires an in face appointment, no exceptions.
